Dr. James K. Hendren started his Scouting journey in Hot Springs, Arkansas as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Explorer where he earned his Eagle Scout Award. He is a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow, and has held numerous youth leadership roles with a strong emphasis on training.
As an adult, James is a distinguished Eagle from the Quapaw Council in Little Rock where he recently served as president helping the council achieve its seven million dollar capital campaign goal. Prior to that, he was the council commissioner and served as council vice president.
James is a member of the Southern Region Executive Board and the National Advisory Council. For several years, he served on the Wood Badge committee, served on the staff for seven Wood Badge Course Directors Conferences, and five years as his area’s Wood Badge chairman. James has been either on staff or a Scoutmaster on every National Jamboree since 1985, and as a faculty member at the Pilmont Training Center.
James is very active in his church. He is a member of St. James Methodist Church and has served on several church committees. He has been recognized with the God and Service Award for his many years of service on the church board and church council.
He remains active in many community and educational institutions, in addition to being a respected businessman and scholar. As the retired founder and CEO of Arkansas Systems, Inc., he holds more than 100 patents.
James resides in Little Rock with his wife, Carol. They have two children, Michael and Jennifer Grant, and one grandchild.
