Dwight has been active in Scouting for almost 50 years. His tenure with the Boy Scouts of America began in 1958 as a Cub Scout in Charlotte, North Carolina, and he eventually became an Eagle Scout while living in Greenville, South Carolina. As a youth, he attended the National Jamboree in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania and the National Order of the Arrow Conference at Indiana University. Dwight is a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow. He is active in the Palmetto Council serving on its executive board and executive committee, and is a past president of the council.
Currently he is a member of the Southern Region Executive Board and is the current president of Area Five. In addition to his Scouting involvement, Dwight was a past deacon and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, South Carolina and is currently active with the Westminster Presbyterian Church (USA) in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Dwight has also been very dedicated to numerous civic activities. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Virginia, which provides oversight for South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, most of West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Additionally, Dwight is the vice president of the Board of Directors of the Catawba Regional Development Corporation. Previously, he has served as the chairman of the South Carolina Bankers Association, president of the United Way of Union County, president of the Union County YMCA, president of Keystone (a York County Substance Abuse Organization), president of the Combined Arts Funds of York County, and as co-founder of the Union Community Foundation. In addition, he is a member of the Union Rotary Club which named him a Paul Harris Fellow. His dedication to his council earned him the Palmetto Award for Outstanding Service.
Dwight and his wife, Susan, are the proud parents of two sons, Adrian and Ellison.
