Chris began his Scouting experience as a Boy Scout in Troop 18 in Shreveport, Louisiana and for the past quarter century, he has been serving on the executive board of the Norwela Council in Shreveport, Louisiana. He served in numerous capacities including commissioner and council president. Chris currently serves on the council investment committee and is co-chairman of the council’s capital campaign. He joined the Southern Region Executive Board in 1997 and serves on the registration denial review committee and is a member of the Southern Region Trust Advisory Committee. Chris is the Area One endowment chairman.
Active in both his community and business associations, Chris is a board member and past chairman of the State Board of the Louisiana Nature Conservancy, board member and past chairman of the Council for a Better Louisiana, chairman of the Tocqueville Society and a member of the Committee of 100. He is a past chairman of the Metropolitan YMCA, co-founder of Leadership Louisiana and is on the Board of Visitors for Trinity University. Chris is a founding board member of the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, board member of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry and on the board of the Business and Industry Political Action Committee in Washington, DC.
Chris is a world-traveler and adventurer. He is a member of the Explorer Club of New York and a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society of London, England. He is also a specimen collector for the Smithsonian Museum. Chris says that “Over the course of the past 25 years…there has never been an expedition where I didn’t rely on the basic skills I learned in Scouting. How to build shelter, make fire in a rain forest, or hike miles through uncharted territory without getting lost; all come from the Scout handbook.”
Chris and his wife, Judith, are the proud parents of nine month old future Scout, Austin.
